The fashion and design industries generates tremendous waste. The leftovers—the scraps, the offcuts, the bits and pieces that fall to the cutting room floor—are still beautiful. They're still useful. They just need to be gathered and repurposed. Those are the orts and lees.

Amy Jersild comes from a long line of practical sewers. She's also passionate about reducing waste. As a volunteer at FabScrap, she saw the wide range of gorgeous, high-quality materials discarded by major manufacturers. From that, an idea was born.
